”’Alex Thorn”’ was born in Stuttgart Germany on March 31, 1965. Is a German born Canadian Businessman, he currently is Founder and CEO of Iastra Broadcasting a broadcasting company with the ability to broadcast live events via the internet and server infrastructure to a global audience.
At the age of 2 years old in 1967 Alex Thorn’s family emigrated to New York City. His Father was a Aircraft Engineer & Pilot and his Mother was a Fashion Designer with her Store (later) located in Vancouver BC Canada for over 35 years.
At the Age of 5 Alex’s Father was asked to head up the Hercules Operations for Pacific Western Airlines in Edmonton Alberta to fly oil field supplies to oil camps all over the World with a focus on the Canadian Arctic Oil Industry. Several years after that he went into business for himself after buying 2 McDonnell Douglas DC4s where he then operated his own Cargo Flight Service flying food and supplies to the Canadian Northern Remote cities and villages that where only accessible by air during some or all times of the year, Alex spent much time flying and working with his father from a very young age.
Growing up in Edmonton Alberta Alex was a very gregarious kid, he and his school mates where skateboard fanatics at a time when skateboards first came on the market they would skate all over town doing tricks that today with the same tricks kids are considered professionals.
At the age of 10 years old, from money he earn shoveling walks in the harsh Edmonton Winters and mowing lawns for the people in his community, he bought his first motorcycle, a Yamaha DT 175A from his neighbor Joe Eskiew who let him make payments for it, it was a large purchase for Alex at 10 years old but he faithfully made the payments.
Being the first of his close friends to have a birt-bike He and his friends would share his motorcycle timing each other with a stop watch where each took turns doing laps around a track they fashioned in the farmers field close to the house he grew up in of course for bragging rights, soon his friends too bought motorcycles and they would spend every waking moment racing each other in the Rural areas of North East Edmonton known as Dickensfield which is the community Alex grew up in, Dickensfield was on the outskirts of town less than 3 blocks away from endless farmers fields (at the time) where they could ride their bikes they knew the back country roads like the backs of their hands and would spend from Sun up to Sun down on their bikes Tearing around the rural farms and country roads where everything turned into a jump or a berm or whoops section.
Alex was doing 100 foot long jumps by the time he was 12 years old, unfortunately video cameras where not available back then.
He was very athletic at school and excelled at sports playing for the school and community hockey, football, baseball, soccer and basketball teams which he was considered one of the top Athletes at his school while at the same time his passion for motorcycles grew. At the age of 12 years old he traded his motorcycle up to his first Motocross Race bike and began racing local motocross where he was again considered a very fast competitor and won many of the races he entered into.
In 1986 when Suzuki came out with their GSXR motorcycle line Alex purchased a brand new 1986 Suzuki GSXR 750 and immediately started racing in the 750 Production and 750 Superbike class. He received his Amateur Racing License and began racing Formula One Motorcycles at Westwood Mountain High Racing Club in Port Coquitlam BC where he quickly asserted himself as a tough competitor in the Canadian racing scene he gained sponsorship from Vancouver Motocycles, Vancouver Suzuki, RK Chains, Sinasalo Leathers, Metzeller Tires and a few other less well known companies which paid for his racing expenses. Alex had an exemplary record and finished all of his races he entered in the top 5 and received many trophies for his top finishes, he was considered very fast and in 1988 he won his class at the Canadian Grand Nationals where he was did not do the qualifier due to mechanical issues and was placed in 18th spot on the starting grid then rode all the way to the front of the pack to win the race and made the cover of the sports section in his communities news paper the Richmond Review.
Alex owned many motorcycles, he was working in the stock market making lots of money at 16 years old and started buying bikes he liked including;
– Yamaha DT 175A
– Honda CR 125
– Suzuki RM 125
– Husquavarna OW430
– Honda CT125 pit bike
– Kawasaki Z1-R 900
– Suzuki 1100 Katana
– Suzuki GSXR many 2 new bikes every year one production and one fully tricked out superbike
Now Alex is 51 years old and has slowed down a bit, but not much he enjoys riding Hard Enduro making new trails and climbing up treacherous mountains, river beads, logging roads and no road places where skills are of most importance.
At the age of 16 Alex met and began working for Murray Pezim one of Canada’s best know Investment Bankers. Under Murray Pezims guidance Alex learned the Finance business taking several companies public on the Vancouver Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange mostly involved in the JR Resource (oil, gas, gold, mining) industry.
under Murray we took many now very big companies public including:
1. Aims Bio Tech (the company that developed the first ever reliable Aids Test and owns the patent on it)
2. Envipco Canada (one of the first companies involved in the Recycling movement, they come up with recycling machines that where in front of every supermarket in Canada and the USA)
3. Cominco Mining and Exploration (a huge Gold Company)
4. Pegasus (huge mining company)
5. Ultraglow Cosmetics (the first company to come out with those Sparkles girls put on, they owned the patent on sparkles and made a lot of money sold many tons of sparkles)
6. In House Video (one of the first companies to put video machines in hotels)
7. Geo-Tech Capital Corp (an capital company focused on investing in Technology, got bought by a major)
8. National Petroleum (a TSX company, was a hostile take-over, when we started buying the stock it was .18 cents per share when we finished and had successfully bought control the stock was as $28 per share and we had control.
9. Blackhawk Mines (a Canadian mining company)
10. Fuji Electo-Cell (Fuji was coming out with their Batteries and wanted to do a test market in Canada so we funded the test market with a .50 Cent IPO on the Vancouver Stock Exchange and ran the stock up to over $15, a hugely successful test market followed by a global release of Fuji’s new batter division.
After working for Murray for 2 years Alex decided this was the career path that he wanted to pursue. In 1984 he went back to school and enrolled in College with his major being International Business and his minor was Computer Programming at a time before Steven Jobs and Steven Wozniak sold Bill Gates Dad their other operating system known as DOS later turned into the Microsoft OS called Windows.
Alex paid his way through college working as a DJ in most of the clubs in Vancouver BC which was at night and didn’t interfere with his day time school activities. Upon completion of his College Alex went back to work for Murray Pezim.
in 1991 Alex took a job working at a Los Angeles based securities firm called Osborne Stern and Company where he was a commodities and currencies broker until 1995.
In 1995 Alex started his software company that spawned two companies called ExecTrek and ACsports, ExecTrek developed an online reservation system for the secondary travel market and ACsports developed the server side source code for what today is called massively multiplayer online gaming.
Having been approached by Microsoft who expressed an interest to have a demonstration of the first finished games portal which at the time was still not possible to do on a commercial level as everyone was still using dial up modems and the data transfer rates did not support online games until 1997 when Broadband finally did come out, which at that time Alex had completed the prototype for the online gaming portal called ACpsorts.com which was built using the Links golf Game made by Sierra Software because golf was a easy game to serve and it was the best golf game on the market at the time.
Alex and his associates where invited to Seattle to do a presentation for Microsoft who was very interested in the games market, the meeting in Redmond Washington did happen at the Microsoft Campus and Microsoft executives present where ecstatic about what Alex’s company had spent $2 Million dollars to build.
Two weeks after the presentation at the Redmond Campus Microsoft went on a media blitz stating they where getting into the online games business, they would start the Entertainment Division of Microsoft and lead with their new online games portal by launching the VGA.com Mircosoft then dumped $20 Billion dollars into the new Entertainment division and launched the Virtual Golf Association which duplicated Alex’s Business Plan and Business Model identically and later the XBOX Platform.
In 1998 Alex’s attorney’s Robert Rosenstein & Associates contacted Microsoft of their intent to file claim against Microsoft. Microsoft then responded to the claim made by Alex Thorn’s attorney stating that Alex had broken the law, he raised his money illegally and everything he did after that was illegal and the DOJ responded to that complaint, froze all of Alex’s bank accounts and Alex was later Indicted by a Criminal Grand Jury for money laundering, wire fraud and mail fraud. With the DOJ having frozen all of Alex’s bank accounts this immediately put his company ExecTrek into chapter 11 bankruptcy and Alex had to lay off over 140 full time employees he had working in his Century City California Offices and his Westwood California Offices.
Literally Every Single Gamer in the World uses the software Alex’s company developed (or a derivative work thereof) to log into game servers via the internet to play against other gamers around the world. His software has Generated billions of dollars.
Which is a claim Alex Thorn has made to the DOJ after he was cleared of the allegations made against him and any wrong doing in court.
After a 10 year long legal battle Alex emerged victorious in court and all the false allegations against him where completely dismissed and Alex was cleared of any and all wrong doing and it was stated in court by the Judge that Alex was the victim of a much larger organized crime and apologized to Alex in court on the record for having been put though this ordeal which caused the bankruptcy of his companies and destroyed Alex’s outstanding reputation and career of excellence and achievement.
Since then the Server Side Software making massively multiplayer online gaming possible developed by Alex’s Company has generated Billions of Dollars and is being used by literally every gamer in the world. Microsoft included Alex’s server side software and or derivative works thereof in the Microsoft Developer Kits and over night literally every Microsoft developer around the world was building game sites and used the software Alex’s company developed.
After Alex was cleared he filed claims against microsoft and Homeland Security for the revenues his software has generated and for damages caused by Homeland Security to his business and reputation. Having written and filed these complaints himself without the benefit of an attorney Alex intends to Amend these complaints with additional allegations of ongoing interference.
At the age of 14 Alex entered the Canadian Military Cadets at Namao Airforce Base in Edmonton Alberta Canada where he was on a path to become a pilot going through boot camp and being trained on the firing range, Glider Training, Flight Simulator as well as other classes offered by the Canadian Military.
When Alex was 14 years old he was getting more interested in racing motorcycles and wanted a new Race bike so when he talked to his parents of how he could get one they told him to “Get a Job” and buy it himself which he did, he went to the first newly opened McDonalds in North East Edmonton (North Gate Location) and applied for a job saying he was 16 on the application to get the job, he was hired and worked at McDonalds through JR High School and into High School. It could also be noted that of all of his school mates and friends he was the first to get a “Real Job”.
And yes he did save up enough to buy his new Motocross bike.
==== North Edmonton Sharks Swim Club at O’leary Pool ====
Alex swam competitively for the North Edmonton Sharks Swim Club at Olearly Pool starting in grade 6, the requirement to be on the Swim team was that every school day the team would have to be at the pool at 6 am and swim a mile (60 lengths of the pool) before school started every day. Needles to say Alex can swim like a fish.
==== Westwood Mountain High Racing Club ====
Alex Raced Formula One Motorcycles all over North America, Westwood was his home track.
==== Dickensfield JR High School ====
During JR high school Alex participated in all the school sports and teams he was particularly good at Wrestling, probably due to his upper body strength from swimming a mile a day he competed in all the Wrestling Events and inter school tournaments where he won a Gold Medal in wrestling for the entire province of Alberta and later he went on to win a Silver Medal in the JR Olympics for all the Schools in Canada. He was invited to Participate with the Canadian National Wrestling Team which meant he would have had to move to Toronto Canada and that was not possible for his parents at the time.
==== Evansdale Elementary School===
Alex participated in all School sports and was a good student at this age Alex and his friends where Skateboarding fanatics where they would skate all over town doing tricks that today kids are classified as professionals wit the same or lesser tricks.
His family had a a ski boat and would go Camping every weekend in the summers where Alex started water skiing and in no time was doing slalom courses where he could drag his elbow in cuts through the course.
