Snowmobile freestyle has crossed a new threshold after Swedish maestro Daniel Bodin has become the world’s first person to land the holy grail of FSX tricks – the Double Backflip.
Watch Bodin land the world first trick in the above and take a look at the huge trick from another angle in the video below.
I did it! I can’t believe I did it! The rush! It just can’t be described – nobody in this world can understand the feeling. I’ve nurtured the dream about nailing this trick more than two years
– Daniel Bodin
he Double Backflip earned a reputation as the Holy Grail of snowmobile freestyle tricks back when Levi Lavallee
attempted (but failed to land) the trick at X-Games in 2009. Then in 2011, Justin Hoyer crashed during a new attempt at Winter X Games. That left the trick unclaimed until Bodin decided to stomp it.
Although the pressure on rivals Colten Moore and Heath Frisby to now deliver the Double Backflip at X Games 2017 is now higher after Bodin’s successful achievement, the Swede says he won’t bring the trick to the event this weekend.
I have focussed so hard on the double in the past months. Everything else was put on hold. Now I’m looking forward to X Games and a chance to ride the Freestyle and Best Trick competitions with an easy mind. I hope I still can surprise
And maybe he doesn’t have to after bagging Gold in both Freestyle and Best Trick at X Games 2011. In 2013 it was time for another Best Trick winning run, having returned from a severe crash that fractured five vertebrae.
As if that wasn’t enough, the same year Bodin also caught the attention of millions on YouTube with a huge jump from a ski jump slope, carrying him just short of 66m (215 feet).
